See You at the Pole

See You at the Pole was this morning.  I wasn’t able to be at LHS but I went to the gathering at Lockhart Junior High.  It was awesome.  It is so cool to see kids who are unafraid to show up and praise God.  They offered prayers for each other, the school, teachers and the lost.  Many of them just offered praise for being alive.  I love seeing God working in our youth.  It reminds me once again that in spite of our feeble attempts to control history God’s plan will not be changed.  God is in control and the future of our youth is bright.

Chester’s Rocks

Chester’s did not dissapoint and neither did the SIlver Stars. Chester’s came through with all the doublecheeseburgery goodness only they can deliver.  One thing struck me from Thursday night.  We visited two places who strive for excellence.  Their lives depend on it.   What if every Christian had a passion for excellence?  At the top of this priority list would be an excellent relationship with God.  Next excellent relationships with others.  What would our families, schools, workplaces and churches look like?  It might look something like this:

Acts 2

The Fellowship of the Believers

42They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. 44All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. 46Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

The service ministries we have done this summer taught me that this verse is absolutely true.  As believers, when we went out of our way to help others out, we left them with a smile.  We encouraged them. We built relationships with people we didn’t know.  We honored God in our humility and inconvienence.  We gained favor with the people.  The kingdom of God is stronger from those few random acts of kindness.  What would our world look like if the body of Christ strove for excellence in these two relationships?

Youthfest on Friday

We are scheduled to go to Youthfest on Friday.  I haven’t heard if anyone wanted to go and couldn’t bring it up because fo Andrew’s presentation.  Which by the way… it  rocked.  Get ready AJ and David. I would like to have a decision by Wednesday for you.  Please find a way to get in touch with me if you want to go.   Scroll down to comments and leave a comment telling me wehter you are going or not.  What an awesome Sunday.  Tom hit the nail right on the head.  You guys who have been serving this summer have seen first hand how much impact you can have.  None of you are too young, too small, too timid, too shy, too whatever excuse you can come up with to make an impact for the kingdom of God.  I love you guys for having enough faith in God to step out and serve with all of your heart this summer.  If you missed out there will be plenty of opportunities ahead.

Free Tickets

12 of us are heading to a WNBA game tomorrow in San Antonio.  I don’t know what I am more excited about, the free tickets to the game or going to Chester’s Hamburger’s.  Chester’s makes the best hamburger in the world. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.  I am only sorry that the majority of the kids in our group couldn’t come because they had band practice.  The good news is that some kids I haven’t seen much this summer are getting to go.
