The Source at Central Baptist Church Luling

Once a month we have the kids over to our house for our Wednesday night fellowship.  I love these times.  It absolutely rocks.  Kids get to hang out, eat, share life problems, and hear the word of God spoken.  Tonight we looked at getting alone with God.  We talked about when Jacob was alone with God the first time he missed God completely, which a lot of us do. I love the honesty of teenagers.  Many of them were honest in admitting that God probably wouldn’t be on the top of their list when faced with time alone.  The second time Jacob didn’t want to let him go.  He refused to let God go until God blessed him.  How many of us are refusing to let God go?  What would our lives look like if we were that dependent on Him?   

I am so in awe of God’s creative power. We have been talking the last couple of weeks about the first 2 chapters of Genesis and how relevant it is to today’s culture.  I am in awe because the God who spoke the universe into being cares enough about me to pursue me and save me.  For the first time in my life I have caught a glimpse into the power of God.  I know that there is power in his word because he spoke and the universe was created.  How much less power would his promises of salvation and eternal life carry?  Absolutely none.  WOW…I simply cannot quit thinking about this.  There is no new scientific discovery, philosophy, religion, or thoughts that can change this.  How do I know this?  You guessed it. The creator of the universe told me.

What an awesome night.  We had a great time at Saw You at the Pole.  Reperesentatives from 3 other churches were there and we all just hung out, ate and worshiped God.  It is so easy for us to think we are so isolated and that there are not many Christians out there.  It is always encouraging to see that there are more people following Christ than we think. 

See You at the Pole and Saw you at the pole is just around the corner and I have lined up a special guest to speak to us that evening. There will be pizza, drinks awesome music and just hangin’ out.  You guys won’t be disappointed.  Start telling your friends about it now.

The high school is having a pep rally this week so I will be taking the van to the pep rally and bringing people who don’t have rides back after it is over.  I look forward to seeing you guys there.  There are some big plans in the works for the future pep rallies that will ease a lot of stress for you guys. 

We are meeting at my house tonight.  We are going to eat chili dawgs, play some darts and just kind of hang out.  I love having these hang out nights.  It is an awesome chance for the stundents to build strong relationships and just be kids.  Hopefully, I’ll remember to get some pictures to post for tomorrow.
